Speak
Written by Alibama89 on March 8, 2009
There are many quotes out there that claim to be inspirational, or that people in the media thrust upon us as a way of influencing our lives, regardless of whether the outcome will be positive or negative. For me the origin of the quote is equally as important as the message in the quote. By this I mean that if someone the likes of Mahatma Gandhi or Nelson Mandela that stood up against oppression delivers a speech you know it comes from the heart and that they truly believe in what they are saying. You can see the passion in their eyes and hear the passion in their voice. They are SPEAKING, not talking. When many people stand in front of a crowd they are unlikely to have had any input in the speech they are relaying to us, and thus they are just a mouthpiece for a collective view. They are not SPEAKING. If you want to be a truly great human being that wants to see change in the world you need to SPEAK. If you have desire to see change in the world, you have to be that change, and will only succeed through SPEAKING. Nowadays, there are too many talkers and too few SPEAKERS. People are not stupid, they can see when someone is talking. They choose to ignore the majority of what they say. People can see when someone is SPEAKING. They choose to listen to every word. People choose what they want to hear, and will only hear what you are saying if you SPEAK. Do you want to be heard?
Stop talking, start SPEAKING
