Why Dance?
Written by Chrisanna on April 12, 2009
My big question is, WHY DANCE? Dance is an art form - it's purpose is to touch someone, their heart and soul by making them cry, smile, laugh. I get a lot of people asking how much I get paid, etc. At this point, it's about building my reputation, my profile. I dance because it's my passion - that passion is to inspire.
Everyone cares about other people's opinions. We're human. But how we deal with them is what makes us all different. I used to get so boggled down but having the right people around, I've learnt to accept, learn and grow. Ultimatley, you respect yourself and when people bring you down, you respect youself more. When I was in LA, I got asked how I became so in love with dance. In the most honest answer, I watched those who inspired me and worked towards their level. There's no time to be jealous, it takes too much energy. Does jealousy really make you feel better? It just shows how unconfident you are about your own self. Does jealousy make you a better person? Why be jealous? Isn't life about being a better person. There are so many issues in our world, you centralize your thoughts in jealousy and hatred?
Since signing to a company/agent, requests to teach and choreograph, I started second guessing myself. Dance was now a job, a career. It was no longer doing what I love for myself, others wanted it of me. That puts a whole lot of pressure not to mention getting paid. There's now a sudden standard that aren't yours to establish. Any JOB entails many hours, lots of work and I started to lose sight why I was there. I was later asked "Have you ever touched someone so deeply you made them cry?" ..I stepped back and looked into the past, the past that built the person I am standing here today. I thought about overcoming the stumbles, climbing big rocks and they were in fact my proudest moments. I know I'm doing something right, when people smile, because you light up their world. It's god's will of saying, that's why you dance ...
If you are tagged, it's my thank you for the good or bad. Things happen for a reason, people walk out because they didn't believe in you but you're just better off. To those for the endless love and support, and those who inspire me ..you are always in my thoughts. (sorry, there's a limit to the tagging!)
A huge huge THANK YOU and whole lotta love to Kimberly Wyatt for helping me build my dance journey ... "DREAM & BELIEVE"
"Watch me, I'm a mannequin"
ps. if you are a dancer, please share why YOU dance=)

Hi..
I started to dance when i was 9, I started with freestyle/disco, then moved onto rock & roll, and tried ballet...
I have never looked back on that first class i took, dance has made the person i am today. I dance because i like to show people what i can do, and within my years of dance i have been offered sponsorship and won championships and i feel that dance is the one thing that makes me happy.
If i did not dance then i dont think i would have met the amazing people from my dance school, these people are amazing dancers and also truly beautiful people and i love them soo much..!!
DANCE IS MY WORLD..!!

I can feel the passion through your words and the transition from being a dancer in a studio to dancing for a career can be tough and does raise a lot of questions. But ultimately no matter what you are doing or who asks what of you, you are chosen for a reason and that is passion. Don't ever let anyone tell you anything less, always stay strong and follow your heart. Dance can be a misunderstood art form but its up to each new generation to try and bring awareness to something so beautiful. The only believer you need is you. xoxo

I'm not a proffesional dancer but all I can say is that dancing it's my all. It's the only way i can express myself without thinking at others. But because i'm afraid of the audience no one can see me not even my closest friends.I believe i really have something special in this way but there is no one to see that.Maybe I will try to send Kim a video and see what she thinks.
I love this blog! xoxo Mary
