Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)
Written by CrushedBeauty on May 19, 2009
10 years ago (I can't believe how time flies!!) a song called 'Sunscreen' by Baz Lurhmann graced my TV screen, as soon as I saw the title and heard the introduction of the song and without really listening, I dimissed it!
The song was a hit over here, and the curiosity got the best of me and I wanted to see what was making the song so popular. I took the time to listen, to listen to the message and then I understood, the messages spoken through the song are so enlighting, not everything 'applies' to me, but wheather you've never heard the song or not take a listen, because its one of those song that really made me stop and think, some valuable advice is given through the song.

I first heard about this when i was in college a friend of mine gave me a copy of the transcript back then and i've been keeping it 'til now. A great piece by Baz Luhrman, a decade old but still good for everyone to ponder on. I'm glad you post the video here.

Omg, I remember the song well as it was the summer I left school, I can't believe that was 10 years ago. At the time I too dismissed it at first, it wasn't the catchy pop I was into and didn't truely listen to the words, until a few yrs later it happened to be on the radio, prob 3 or 4 yrs ago now, but ever since then, I can't help but cry when I hear it. Sometimes for happy reasons and sometimes for sad reasons, but it's true that everyone can relate to it in some way. Even if only one thing in the song applies to you at that moment in time, it makes you stop, think and assess yourself and your life and the impact you have in the world. Amazingly written piece!
