Thank you BM Family!

Written by Estrella82 on October 5, 2009

It’s 9pm on Sunday night and I’m sitting here with a smile on my face thinking how lucky I am and what did I do to deserve such amazing people in my life?  I have moaned a bit lately and feel bad for it because seriously there is so much more to smile about.

As I guess everyone will know due to Xtina and Cristina’s AMAZING video, it was my birthday Thursday.  I wasn’t expecting much as it was just a normal day at work, and my boss had phoned me the night before as I had been out of the office Wed, and typically my clients always seem to have problems when I’m not there!  So she was being pretty moody and it was such a busy day at work I didn’t even have a lunch break.

But OMG my workmates gave me such a big surprise – I walked it to find my desk covered in balloons, a banner, a badge and confetti, there was barely room for me!  Well if that hadn’t made my day, one girl Saskia brought over a huge banoffe pie - she made one for someone’s leaving do in January and remembered how much I had liked it – how thoughtful!  If this wasn’t enough, my team then produced a bag of gifts, containing a box of choc orange segsations, 2 choc oranges (no I don’t have a problem with choc orange, honest) a bottle of wine, a bead necklace and a gift voucher!  I went bright red and almost cried at their generosity – I was only expecting the standard card from the company...

So then in the evening I just went round to my parents and my Mum cooked a gorgeous dinner, I was more stuffed than a turkey on Xmas day!  I then opened my presents.  My parents got me a Sat Nav -yay, I’m so excited I won’t get lost anymore!  Between family and friends I received so many thoughtful and lovely gifts I genuinely spent the whole day being completely overwhelmed.  I have always been very thankful for my family and friends but all this was way more than I ever expected or felt I deserved, I actually started to feel a bit guilty!  And of course how could I forget the highlight of the day – the video.  Was I the only one who had no idea it was Cristina as Lady Gaga?  OMG just the whole thing made my day I was in bits!

Of course no birthday is complete without a party so that was saved for Saturday night.  Some friends came to mine first as I had prepared a huge jug of Pimms, wine, snacks, you name it!  We wanted a cheap night as everyone was feeling the pinch so we just went into our town where there were a couple of bars, but seriously these are times you really realise it’s not where you are it’s who you are with that counts, we had so much fun.  At one point I was laughing so hard I couldn’t even speak to tell my friend to stop making me laugh because he was making me wee my pants!!!  Apart from a slightly amusing yet annoying incident where we couldn’t get into our first choice of bar because not everyone had ID (kinda flattering but seriously you can’t tell me any of us looked anywhere near 17 – I wish! Lol)  we had a great time and danced loads so by the end of the night my feet were practically falling off but it was worth it.

As I lay in bed at 3am feeling slightly worse for wear I couldn’t wipe a silly smile off my face – what a night, what amazing friends to make the effort to come out with me, and buy me cards and thoughtful gifts, and of course plenty of drinks.  And then back to Thursday as well, when so many people both close to home and around the world went to the effort of wishing me a happy day and making it special - the kindness and goodness in others never ceases to amaze me.

When we hear about so much heartbreak, tragedy and cruelty around the world in the news and on TV it is genuinely touching to be reminded of how much benevolence and humanity is there in the people around us and how much we have to be truly thankful for – love is simply the greatest gift of all.   I have never felt so genuinely touched and overwhelmed in my life and I wanted to take the opportunity to send all of my love and gratitude out to my wonderful BM family, who have helped me in ways I can’t describe over recent months, even if you don’t know it.  I love you so much, thank you a million times, you will always have such a special place in my heart!

All my love, always

Time, distance, countries, colour and religion don't matter here. We all might be thousands of miles apart and my never see each other and like familys we have our ups and downs. But BM is our home and home is where we feel safe and secure. Your a smart and funny person Emily with a hell of a smile. The kind of smile that lights up a room. So there was no chance your birthday was not going unoticed. Think yourself lucky we didn't all send you a card. You would never have got in your flat. :)

My love you are one of the sweetest person ive ever known....It was so bad to me when you were sad for your bday and now im glad that everything changed and you got many big surprises...and im happy that our video was one of them..lol...Everyday i wonder why i love you,Xtina,Lexy, etc more than people that i see everyday...I think that the answer is: There are no many special people in the earth...but when you find them, you're able to feel their love even if they're on the other side of the world to you...Distance means nothing when 2 hearts are close to each others...You are one of those special people Emily...Dont say thanx anymore...i told you that you DESERVED it and i will never stop!!!! lol I wish you could always be happy as you were during your bday....but you know how life goes...sometimes there are moments that you will feel sad, that you feel overwhelmed by problems...but you'll never be alone...You have your friends, your family and your BM family :) and....WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!! Mwah!!!!!!!
