Musician at heart

The song "You know", one of several in the featured videos, is one of the 12 Basic Songs for my project, Musicians at Heart. You'll find this song on my 2010 CD release, "Green Boots." What is the project: Musicians at Heart? The idea behind this project is simple yet likely to be challenging to bring to life. Two years ago, as a 16 year old female artist, I was inspired by Will.i.am's project, In My Name. (Link: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001069595088#!/note.php?note_id=38582528402&id=27192641133&ref=mf), and I submitted a song written for the project. I'm not certain whether Will personally recognized my song, but in his blog of the In My Name project, I saw a positive notice about my song.

I began to imagine how it would be if Will.i.am played my song with me as a joint effort. I fantasized how it would sound if Will actually produced the song, lending his own unique style to the collaboration . . . Two years later, in early 2010, my debut album Green Boots was released, to follow that dream . . . I wrote 12 different songs for Green Boots and targeted each of the 12 songs for collaboration with one of 12 different specific artists whose musical style best resonated with that song. My vision is to release each of the songs on my album as a single, re-recorded with its proposed musical partner(s). Because of their passion for creativity, integrity as artists, and their great hearts as musicians in One Tribe, I believe that each musical partner in Musicians at Heart will bring the best of who they are to the collaborations with me. Because of this, I'm sure . . . that two musicians can play together no matter how rich or famous one of them is ! This is what my project Musicians at Heart is all about! I recorded the songs on Green Boots in a "basic version," with a small number of instruments. This stripped-down recording process leaves space for creative collaboration. My musical partners will have ample room to join with their own musical ideas, which I can then adapt in new recording with them for a single release. In the spirit of collaboration, I intend to share half the proceeds from the Musicians at Heart project to not-for-profit organizations that provide musical education and instruments for disadvantaged individuals who share our passion for making music.
