ARTE: Jeff Koons 'Pop Life' Gagosian Edition
Written by MJP on November 19, 2009
One of my favorite gallery owners is Larry Gagosian. His story is like the real American dream. Grew up in a working class family and started selling art posters. Now many worldwide galleries later he is now one of the most successful art dealers in the world.
Jeff Koons is an artist fascinated with pop culture so I would say that its safe to say that sometimes his work could be considered pop art. Jeff made his big break into the art scene in the 80's. This was a magical time for pop artist, who were made even more popular thanks to the stylized ways of Andy Warhol's Factory and later even Keith Harring's "chalk drawings."
I am really excited to see new work from Jeff Koons. I don't think I have ever been excited to see his work until now. He is at the Beverly Hills Gagosian Gallery from now until Jan 9 2010. It is for sure worth checking...hope to see you there.
The art below is not from his new collection of work. However the painting above is apart of the new work currently on display.
this video and song works well with Jeff's pop art

I like Jeff Koons, especially his big "balloon" animals! Some of my other favorite artist considered "pop" include Jasper Johns, Robert Rauchemberg, and Roy Lichtenstein!
Thanks for sharing, MJP!
