How can I be someone YOU want me to be?

Written by MsCheryl on June 24, 2009

It always strikes me how demanding people sometimes are.  Nobody is perfect but we are always striving for better. Its only natural that it brings out your competitive side and other peoples, but no one should expect you to be or do better than you are. Where you are, at any moment is where you SHOULD be. With hard work, and determination, you can reach anywhere sure but if you are not ready, you won't. Abuse directing you to do or be something of someone elses imagination is hard and although I can't get the words right at the moment the feeling is here.

I have suffered at the hands of many bullies who have typified me to suit something they are used to and know. When I do not meet their standards, or expectations, I become a target. I feel outraged at the thought that I should firstly, be typified to suit anyone and secondly, abused purely for not being up to an individuals standard.

I feel a lot of this problem lies within society, you know, that cushty blanket everyone stays in. Since when where the rules that you have to bend a certain way to meet the blanket? It might sound funny but it really narks me that people aren't allowed to be themselves. I don't mean irresponsible, mindless behaviour of destruction no, I mean allowing a person to pursue their own interest without typifying them to like or behave a certain way. WHY can't a man who adores fashion pursue it without falling into the "gay" catergory? Why can't an attractive person pursue a more reserved way of life without being classed as "different" or whatever? Why can't a girl play football or rugby without being regarded as a tomboy?

I was born with individual characteristics, so different to yours. How can you expect me to be who YOU want me to be? A chameleon is able to develop and adapt, so are humans. You find that once you have taken away all the labels that you STUCK onto me, I am still me, always have been and always will be.

The purpose of this blog was to express the sentiment of labelling in mainstream society and how they can often be misguided, and misinterpreted and the power an individual has in self-determination.

amazing blog cheryl.

*I am still me, always have been and always will be*  great quote.

i said some time ago that the one of the biggest  problems of the society is the need to clasify.

and for this reason, I think the greatest virtue of  the human being should be showing what he/she got, not what the other people wants to see .

anyway.. i think that with this blog, u show us what u are and what u want to be.so..

u should be proud. i am.
