Absolute Truth

Written by ayxie on August 22, 2009

Yesterday, after having a conversation with my friend I realized how complex humans are. We are talking about the exsistence of human life and how the world constantly changes. I raised an argument that there may come a time wherein people don't need to go to school anymore and just learn from the different experiences and just let the society and environment teach us the things that we have to learn.  We also talked about how the people from the middle ages believed that the world is flat. For them, that is the ABSOLUTE TRUTH. However, this truth was changed during the 15th century when Christopher Columbus, after his voyages, claimed that the world is round. From then on, since he used science to explain his theory, it became the ABSOLUTE TRUTH. I then came to realize that someday, the ABSOLUTE TRUTH/S that we know at this present times may not be applicable anymore.

We will all be a part of the history. We will be called the people from the 21st century who believed that the world is round and the era where gays and lesbians are fighting for their rights. The period where the computers and cellphones is not a luxury but a necessity. But who dictates these truths? these cultures? I think whoever has the POWER dictates these things. Nowadays, the power is in SCIENCE. If you want other people to believe what you are saying, you have to back it up with a scientific explination otherwise your argument won't be that reliable. My friend believes that the ECONOMY dictates culture.

How about you? What are your thoughts on this? Do you think the absolute truths that we have right now is really not abosolute? What do you think the future will be since the world is constantly changing? Are human beings really that complex?

that was a very interesting blog and kinda complex haha.

I think you're right. Power, Money, Technology have taken over our lives.

If we look back at years 60's or 70's, i realize that people might have been happier than the people of our generation. They didn't need luxury things to be happy. They were satisfied with the tiniest and simplest things. I'm not saying that technology etc are bad. But there must be a balance in our lives.

I honestly dont understand what that ABSOLUTE TRUTH is about. But i'd love to know more about it :)
