BEP in São Paulo: We Had The Time of our Lives!

This post is my review telling a little bit of what happened to us, the FergieBR team, and fellow fans of BEP and friends from other sites when we met them. (Aline also published a great blog on her Dipdive profile, read it here: http://dipdive.com/member/AlineBrazilPea/blog/26393)

First off, there was a lot tension because we didn’t know if we could meet them or not. Everyone thought of alternative ways to meet them if we didn’t get to meet them at the Meet & Greet which was by guest list. We thought we may  have the help of Will’s personal security, Universal Music, or Fergie’s assistant, but nobody had the full assurance that something would actually happen.

As you know, we went to the concert in Porto Alegre and took a giant banner on behalf of FergieBR and PortalBEP, so we could have the attention of the Peas during the show. Will and Fergie even signed our banner. At the after party, Will recognized us and was talking toward us and at the end of the conversation, he asked for his personal security to get my phone number and he would give us backstage acess. Finally, we returned to our homes, and I was sending a sms to the guy to get instructions.

From that day until the concert was a series of barriers of communication, such as the fact that my phone does not send messages to phones outside the country, other than two specific phone companies. I managed to speak to the security and get an e-mail because the sms did not work. I sent him the full names of the people who were in Porto Alegre and he [security] said he would send me instructions on what I should do.

Days before that, I had spoken to the manager of Universal to see if she could give us (FergieBR team) some passes for the Meet & Greet. She said she would return my message when possible. One day before the show, as we were not sure about the deal with security, I sent an email to Universal passing the names of the four people I had previously applied for, from FergieBR, and asking if she could include Vinicius and Vanessa. They came back to me saying that the four names previously submitted were ok, but were still waiting for the other names to be ok, and we still needed instructions on how the M & G would work. Imagine the tension in the line waiting for instructions. I do not know if it’s something that every fan has, but I personally always think the worst. I need to work my optimistic side because, to me, everything would go wrong and I already get enough stomach pain.

We had the idea of bringing the banner back to the show, but since the banner from Porto Alegre had been signed, we were afraid and decided to make a new one, 1m high by 2m wide; you can see it below:

Anyway, we got the instructions from security and we walked from side to side looking for an imaginary list that nobody knew about, and it was time to enter the stadium. Some people had warned us that banners and posters would not be allowed in the stadiu, and it was true. Luckily, a friend of mine was outside the stadium and she stayed with the banner. We got the instructions from Universal for the Meet & Greet, at least it was alright. Inside the stadium, no one knew of the security’s list and therefore we could not help Vanessa, Vinicius, and Julia because what we had was what Universal Music assured us. I’ll skip the part in which we expected to get bracelets. Let’s just emphasize our sense of outraged fans, with the amount of random people who participated in the M & G and are not really fans or at least not seemed to be fans.

It is impossible to describe how magical the Meet & Greet was. We arrived in line. This time, another person gave the instructions for how it works, and not Pascal. As usual, we were not supposed to kiss, hug, take cameras, everything you already know. We stood in line, waiting until our turn. We had to leave all our backpacks at a table and the FergieBR shirts that we wanted to give the Peas on a table. Previously, we asked a producer if  Will was at the M & G, and she said no. Our time had come, I’ll try to explain what I remember from one minute we had with them.

Right away when we entered, I saw Apl. And then, there was Fergie. I looked at her and said, “Hey Fergie, look, FergieBR” pointing to my shirt, she was very happy to see the shirt, and greeted me. Out of nowhere,  Will.i.am appeared behind her, I do not know where he came from to greet me. It was amazing because he greeted me like a half brother, like  “Yooooo”. It was very funny, as you can see from the photo below:

Then, Fergie pulled me and asked to take a picture pointing at my shirt. Then she pulled Edson and Aline and pointed to the shirt to take more pictures. That is the photo that you see now, where I was looking at someone I don’t remember.

Between that moment and the official photo of the M & G, we had little time and I remember saying to them, we had left a shirt from FergieBR for each and there was a red one, for Bobby. We had to position ourselves for the photo that you can see below. In the end, Fergie hugged each one of us without us even asking, and said she was glad for our support. Anyway, it was magical because we had already received the instructions like “you can not hug”, and she initiatiated it, so it was very special for all of us.

I think we all felt a little fuzzy inside because when we were leaving, some team members, and some security guards and some people standing in line applaused. I may be super valuing our passage, but I think it was for us. Anyway, it might be, because it was very special.

We left there and got to catch the last song of David Guetta’s show with Akon. Shortly after the show, there were the Peas. And you probably know by heart, because videos and pictures do not fully show how amazing the concert is.

Again, this is my review of the moment and it may be that something was different, but it happens so fast that it’s difficult to remember the details of what happened. It would be awesome if there was a video to immortalize this moment. Maybe someone from Dipdive recorded it and will make us even happier!

We need to thank the Black Eyed Peas for all the sympathy. And I bite my tongue because I though that they were not caring much for the fans, mainly because Will was always serious in pictures, but they were extremely friendly with us and everyone that had the opportunity to talk to them say the same, so we had a hasty impression and we have to recognize it. I can not forget to say thanks to @umusicbrasil, Universal Music, for providing us the meeting. We will never forget it!
