Twitter valued at $1 billion

Twitter has lined up $100 million to finance ongoing operations.  It's hard to believe that Twitter's only been around for about 3 years, but really splashed on the tech scene in this past year.  Despite this latest investment, which now values the company at $1 billion, the company has yet to generate meaningful revenue or profits.

But, there is no denying the impact that Twitter has had in both the tech space and popular culture.
