Critics

Image

We've all read critic reviews of our favourite singers/movie stars/authors and been frustrated because the critic doesn't share the same view or opinion as us. But in all conciousness we know that we shouldn't get too worked up because they are entitled to their opinion. I want to say right now, that critics have gotten way to out of hand.

To "critique" a piece of art or literature means to give critisim, and many critics take this title very seriously. Lately critics have been harsh for movies. Its almost as if they follow some sort of checklist about a movie instead of their opinion. Artistic vision does not have value anymore... its good or it sucks.

Critics like to reinforce that a movie or CD has to be outstanding to get a good review.  They are supposed to be ruthless, so they are. This is not fair. I have watched movies before that I have enjoyed that may not be perfectly written or acted, but it was not a waste of time. Slowly but surely critics are losing their credibility among readers... if they shoot down a show or piece of music, people will watch it anyway. They've lost power. Its like the overuse of a swear word... you say it too much, it loses its impact.

Naturally most critics nowadays shoot down most pop/hip-hop/electric music because its "modern garbage". Why believe these people who are MOSTLY old men and women who are stuck in their generation of music? Our generation is creating its own tastes and genres of music, and thats what people like, NOW. So my advice to you is dont read a critic review. Go out and form the opinion for yourself. Then you can decide if you like it or not. I mean, If Boom Boom Pow was supposedly a "cheap electric song" then why was it number one on the Billboard chart for over ten weeks? After all, this is the now generation...

Thanks for your opinion. Personally I believe Boom Boom Pow was number one for so long because it's just simply an amazing, different, catchy dance song. The "return of the Peas" factor played a role in it's success but did not drive it. And remember the album and the singles are still young! Obviously there is more chart-toppers coming.

i think boom boom pow was number one because that song meant the"bep return". i like boom boom pow, but i think that there were some bep singles better than bbp and those songs werent number 1. But well, i am not criticizing anything and anyone. just givin my opinion, and i repeat, i like boom boom pow and i am very happy that it was number one! the peas deserve it. :)
