Lost In Stereo: All Time Low Gig 14.1.12 - Feeling Free <3
Written by pussylicious on January 18, 2012
I went to see All Time Low (with support from We Are The In Crowd & The Maine) last Saturday (14.1.12) and I just had to write a blog about it - it was the most amazing gig/night of my life - not an understatement!
It was the night I'd been looking forward to for sooo long- I'd literally been counting down the months/ days/weeks/hours haha! :P
And the amazingness (new word :P) started from the minute we entered the o2 Academy, in Glasgow. We got taken round to a side tour (as I had to go into a wheelchair, as the M.E hasn't been great recently.) We had to wait outside for a few mins, as they were doing Meet & Greets in the Academy. Not long after I took my seat, Anna & Heather decided to go to the toilet before all the crowds starting pouring in, so it was just me and my sis Louise. There wasn't a specific area for wheelchairs to go, but a slightly raised platform (where other people could stand too) - with an area left for standing tickets on the floor - we were sooo close - views were amazing! As I was waiting for Anna & Heather, I noticed two guys dressed in black walking towards me. When they were (quite literally) inches away from me, I noticed they had American accents. They literally took my breath away, all I could say was "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh...wow!", because I'd just realised...Jack and Rian from All Time Low had just walked past me.!! I was too in awe of them to say hi - so annoyed with myself now! Especially since Jack is my favourite member - he's hilarious, a really talented musician..and hot! haha. Then later Rob from We Are The In Crowd walked past me &ATL's tour manager Flysik a few times - as well as their lighting guy Evan - we didn't realise it was him till the day after lol! Although I didn't get to meet them, just them walking past me put me on cloud 9! haha. I love that weren't pretentious with lots of security - just normal guys, with amazing talent. :) My sis also spotted Mike and Cameron from WATIC at the bar - all those sightings are my claim to fame lol. My friend Darren was working there doing first aid and he came over and spoke to us for a while, which was cool. He told us he knew the guy who was organising it all, so would try to get us a setlist or something, which I thought was really nice of him. :)
The first act up was We Are The In Crowd, and their set was flawless! Just wish it'd been longer! Plus we all got an amazing surprise when Alex from ATL came on stage to sing Kiss Me Again with Tay - so cute! - Those two should totally be a couple!! haha. They announced that they're coming back to Glasgow in April; managed to get tickets this morning - 3 months today; so I'll have seen one of my fave bands twice in 4 months - so excited! They're playing King Tuts Wah Wah Hut - never been there before, so looking forward to checking it out. :) If you haven't heard of WATIC, I'd highly recommend them - the lead singer Tay sounds a bit likeHayley Williams from Paramore. :)I wasn't keen on The Maine - their set went on forever - thought I was gonna get a migraine. I actually like some of their studio recordings, but wasn't as keen live - the songs I love by them were amazing, but those in between felt like 'filler tracks' with lots of heavy guitars, which wasn't easy on the ear live! lol. The lead singer John was a little tipsy, which was pretty funny to watch - he started randomly laughing during one song! :L
As for All Time Low; all I can say is WOW! They sounded (and looked :P) perfect! The crowd interaction was amazing and they were really funny. At one point, they put up a massive LOL sign on the screen behind them (as well as some 'experimental' :words :P, and said it'll come up every time they tell a joke and we were supposed to laugh haha. Alex then made up this random laugh (which was like " AH. HA. HA" we were all supposed to copy and was like "I feel like we should all be wearing monocles and smoking cigars" - love him!
I'd never been to the o2 Academy before last Saturday, but I'd definitely go again - my favourite venue by far. The atmosphere was incredible - which is why I've named my blog "...Feeling free" There was a real sense of fun, and that everyone was accepted there (if that makes sense). You could jump about, dance (which Anna & Heather did during Poppin' Chamagne - the actual dance from the video LOL) sing really loudly, and didn't get funny looks or real awkward - I've never felt that before at a gig - and it was a feeling I hope to experience again really soon! For that night, I forgot all about exam worries, health problems, stress etc and it incredible! I hope my BM Family can experience that feeling - it's the best! <3
All Time Low have a song called Lost In Stereo - and that's how I felt that night - caught up in the music - with a feeling of happiness and just euphoria that I've not had in so long. Watching Alex, Jack, Rian and Zack have so much fun on stage, made me think a lot - that's what I want to have! So from now on, I'm going to try my best to take every opportunity and just live life to the full! Saturday night is why All Time Low are huge inspiriations to me.
Who says music can't change lives? - It can!
