will.i.am (Bob Chamberlin / Los Angeles Times) Over the past three years, Black Eyed Peas singer and video artist will.i.am has transformed the lower level of his three-story 1920s Spanish residence in Los Feliz. What was once a warren of guest and game rooms is now a lavish recording studio with decidedly luxurious appointments.

"It's an old soul's laboratory," he says of the mix of high-tech equipment and Old World decor. "It has a special energy and unique vibes. I think it might be haunted."
